Dissecting Muybridge: Part I The Moving Image

Video, Single Channel SD (720 x 480), 2014

Dissecting Muybridge recontextualizes Eadweard Muybridge’s late nineteenth century chronophotography, to both critique and analyze the language of film through the immediacy of video. The work is divided into three parts that trails the moving image’s evolution into film, analog video, and digital video.

Image processing included the Hearn Video System, the Doepfer Modular Synthesizer, and system throughput was created with Processing, After Effects, and Premiere Pro. Work was developed at Signal Culture in Feb. 2014.
